Masonite hollow core doors are junk
I bought 9 24 inch hollow core masonite doors for a remodeling project. The doors are reasonably solid and look good.
But where did masonite decide to go cheap? At the pivot points of the door! Instead of wood there is low density particle board, Not wood like the rest of the frames. The hardware won't even stay in the holes before they are even used.
REALLY!!
Instead of 4 10 inch 1x1s they use basically cardbord, I would certainly have paid 2 dollars more for the doors instead of paying a carpenter to replace the cardboard with wood and regluing the doors. Sheesh.
Monetary Loss: $500.

Why are hollow core doors even sold? It is going to cost a fortune to replace all interior doors in my home. Even having raised two very active boys in this house, it is beyond me how they all have some dents and pressed on damage.
I can only assume you are possibly referring to a bi-fold door?. I have no problem with the masonite hollow core 24 inch door I recently installed.
The only drawback I found was the split jam which is not as solid/sturdy.
Other older masonite doors in my home do not have split jams. They have been there for decades without issue.
These doors are garbage.
